About the role
The Treasury Corporate Finance team manages all aspects of the group’s debt portfolio (c.£10bn) and has accountability for the group net interest expense in the P&L (c.£200-300m per annum).
The role reports into the Director – Corporate Finance and primarily provides analytical and technical support to the Corporate Finance team in developing and executing elements of the Financing Strategy, in accordance with Treasury policies. The role also supports the Director – Corporate Finance in the delivery of operational and strategic projects and in maintaining relations with our relationship banking group.
Key responsibilities
• Support the wider Corporate Finance team in the research and preparation of the Financing Strategy and Treasury Policies
• Provide support for ad-hoc Corporate Finance projects as and then they arise (e.g. debt capacity assessment, working capital initiatives, risk management, structured transactions, M&A and divestments)
• Support the Director - Corporate Finance in the preparation and execution of bond issues and other strategic projects.
• Preparation of monthly papers for Treasury Risk Committee reporting, including detailed analysis of net debt and bond pricing
• Project management to support the update of external funding facilities and other Treasury documentation (including backstop revolving credit facilities, EMTN programme, US Shelf Registration and ISDA agreements)
• Maintain and develop the bank wallet analysis, assisting the wider Corporate Finance and Dealing teams in effective management and maintenance of relationships with the group’s Global Relationship Banks
• Ensure compliance with relevant policies, processes, procedures or regulations (e.g. SOX, audit committee paper, covenant compliance for funding programmes, bank KYC requirements)
• Maintain a culture of continuous improvement within the department, initiating and implementing process improvements
• Stay abreast with the latest developments in the global financial markets including loans, debt capital markets and related regulatory developments
Qualifications and skills
Essential
• University graduate or equivalent
• Relevant Treasury / Finance experience
• Studying for a Financial qualification, or qualified by experience (eg: CGMA, ACCA, AMCT/MCT, CFA)
• Financial and analytical proficiency, good attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
• Good time management to meet fixed project deadlines
Preferred.
• Experience working in a large global organisation
• Good understanding of financial complexity in a multinational organisation
• Legal negotiation and project management experience preferred
